Just a few question that were asked .........

 

How do I know if I/we need therapy?

Therapy is good for all people.  For some there may be feelings of being overwhelmed. Some experience a lack of motivation. Many need to talk out transitions or difficulties with transition.  Others may experience life and/or relational challenges.   Therapy provides a safe place to explore and address concerns and make adjustments that support improvements or modification that lead to productive lives the way the individual sees fit. 

 

How long does therapy/counseling last?

Therapy is a unique and personal experience for every individual and family, so there is no rule regarding the number of sessions you should have. Weekly or biweekly sessions typically last over the course of three to six months. Depending upon the specific issues to be addressed and who is involved in the treatment process (individual, couple, or family), you may need more or less time for sessions. Together we will work toward your goals to determine when completion has been and will be established.  

 

How much does therapy cost?

Your Safe Space offers standard sessions for 45 to 60 minutes and extended sessions for 90 minutes. The investment for a 45 minute session begins at $150.00, a 60-minute session begins at $200, and the investment for a 90-minute session begins at $250.    

 

Do you accept insurance?

Your Safe Space accepts some major insurance plans. We currently accept Maryland Medicaid, AETNA, Cigna, CareFirst, Blue Cross Blue Shield,United HealthCare, and Affordable Health Care Plans formally known as (OBAMA CARE) insured in the State of Maryland.  Your Safe Space is happy to provide you with a statement of all paid services for Out of Network coverage, which can be submitted to your insurance company by you for reimbursement. For insurance providers where we are credentialed as In-network, the fees are set and clients are required to pay their deductible and/or co-payment at or before the start of their session as contracted. It is recommended that clients contact their insurance provider to explore out of pocket cost, prior to scheduling their first session.

 

Where is your office located?

Your Safe Space is located in Bowie, Maryland near the Vista Gardens Market Place Center. The address is 10111 Martin Luther King Jr Hwy Suite 103, Bowie, MD 20720. 

 

What can I expect my appointment and therapy process to be like? 

When you arrive, please enter the office and have a seat in the waiting room and complete any required forms to include updated information. I will come to greet you there at your scheduled appointment time. If our appointment is being held virtually please wait in my virtual waiting room and I will retrieve our secure portal from the virtual waiting room. 

 

What is the cancellation policy?

Clients are required to notify their therapist, either by phone call, or email, at least 24 hours in advance of cancelling a session. If less than 24 hours notification is given, you will be charged a small cancellation fee of $30.00.  

 

Are my therapy sessions confidential?   

As licensed practitioners, we are bound by law to protect your information.  The law protects the communication between a client and a psychotherapist. We are not authorized to share your information with others except for collaboration with practitioners and physicians that you authorize by release.  The are some exceptions that are mandated by law: 

• A court order to share information about you.

• You have a medical or psychological emergency and a doctor or hospital needs information to treat you.

• You present a potential danger to yourself and/or others.

• Child abuse or neglect.

• Abuse or neglect of an elderly person or vulnerable adult.

How do I make an appointment?

To make an appointment visit www.YourSafeSpace.org to schedule online or call the office at 301-459-0708, or email admin@yoursafespace.org to request an appointment.  Appointment is not guarantee unless confirmed by the YSS team.

 

What are the fees for service?

$150 for 45 minutes in person or video live therapy session.

$200 for 60 mins either in-person or video live therapy session.  

$250 for 90 mins either in-person or video live therapy session.  

Payments to include copayment for insurance can either be in the form of cash, electronic transfer, or credit card.

 

When is payment due for service?

Payments are due at or before the start of service.

 

What are your hours?

Generally, our normal base office hours are from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM. Additional hours for therapy appointments are available before and after theses set standard hours upon request and availability.
